School Based Therapist
Karin earned an MA in psychology at Ashford online college with a 3.67 GPA while working at Reedsport Junior/Senior High school. She started out as a bus aid for Head Start and then moved on the Jr./Sr. high school for many years in different office positions. She left there as the guidance counselor. Once COVID came along, Karin switched to substitute teaching occasionally. She has spent the last 2½ half years doing school-based therapy near Lakeside Oregon.
She is comfortable in schools and with their procedures. Karin has always worked with children and their families, mostly in economically challenged communities. She loves it and is happy to be continuing as a school-based therapist for Adapt. She has worked with children aged 3-18 and adults occasionally. She tries to meet people where they are and go from there to figure out what they need help. She uses primarily CBT (cognitive behavior therapy) as well as play therapy and is open to other approaches. She understands coastal towns and has always worked in them. Both sides of her family are from Brookings.
