Chief Medical Officer
Meet Dr. Adam Trotta, Chief Medical Officer of Adapt Integrated Health Care. Dr. Trotta is a native of Medford, Oregon, and comes to Adapt with 15 years of clinical practice experience. He brings clinical expertise and leadership and is honored to join Adapt’s multidisciplinary health care system.
Dr. Trotta’s first full-time position after completing his training was at Native American Health Center, a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in Oakland, California. He worked as the Lead Physician and updated the clinic’s chronic pain guidelines following the CDC’s 2022 Guideline for Prescribing Opioids. Dr. Trotta then worked as a primary care physician at Providence Medical Group in Medford, where he championed Office-Based Buprenorphine Treatment (OBOT) throughout Southern Oregon. Before joining Adapt, Dr. Trotta served as Texas Clinics Medical Director at Symetria Recovery, where he oversaw changes in treatment protocols and advanced a harm reduction treatment philosophy in response to the fentanyl era of the opioid epidemic. While at Symetria, Dr. Trotta also led implementation efforts following SAMHSA’s 2024 Final Rule for Opioid Treatment Programs (OTPs), the first significant update to methadone regulations in 20 years.
Dr. Trotta earned his Bachelor of Arts from the University of San Diego. After college, he served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Guinea, West Africa. He then attended medical school at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago and subsequently completed a Master of Science in Public Health at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. He completed his Family Medicine residency training at Baylor College of Medicine and later participated in a mission with Doctors Without Borders (MSF) in the Central African Republic. Dr. Trotta is board certified in both Family Medicine and Addiction Medicine. His areas of expertise include care for underserved populations, tropical medicine, and the treatment of opioid use disorder with buprenorphine and methadone.
As Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Trotta oversees clinical care across Adapt, including primary care clinics in Roseburg, Winston, and Bandon; opioid treatment programs; detoxification and residential treatment services for substance use disorders; and outpatient psychiatric services. He is committed to Adapt’s mission of providing high-quality clinical care to underserved populations.
Outside of work, Dr. Trotta is the proud father of four young children. He enjoys spending time outdoors and traveling internationally and values service, which aligns with Adapt’s commitment to compassionate, integrated care.
