Art of Prevention Douglas County Youth Empowering Voice through Art

Adapt’s Prevention & Education Program is proud to announce the 8th Annual Art of Prevention art contest and art show. “We’re calling all young artists in grades 4-12 to submit entries for this year’s contest,” said Cati Strempel, Prevention & Education Director. Entries will be accepted through April 5, 2019.

Every year for the past eight years, the Art of Prevention has empowered young people to help raise awareness about important issues that impact communities throughout Douglas County. “Art projects focus on the prevention of substance abuse, tobacco use, child abuse, partner violence, problem gambling, suicide, and bullying,” said Strempel.  Art projects may use any artistic medium, and must be portable, original, and appropriate for all audiences. Preference is given to art projects that promote the benefits of healthy choices and behaviors.

All entries will be displayed at the Art of Prevention awards ceremony on Thursday, May 2, 2019 (updated), at the Winston Community Center. Doors open at 5:00pm.

Entries may be dropped off or mailed to: Adapt Prevention & Education, 548 SE Jackson St., Roseburg, OR 97470. For details on categories and entry forms, contact Cati Strempel at 541-492-0145 or catis@adaptoregon.org or visit www.facebook.com/adaptprevention.
