Adult Mental Health – We’re Here to Help

By Teresa Emery, MA, LPC

According to the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) (2022), mental health illness is quite common among adults 18 years and older. Approximately 19.86% of adults experience mental health issues, which equates to 50 million Americans in the United States. In 2022, Oregon reported 27% of adults suffering from mental illness, at least 6 percent higher than the national average.

There are two broad categories to describe mental health conditions: Any Mental Illness (AMI) and Serious Mental Illness (SMI). AMI includes recognized mental health issues such as anxiety disorders, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) at various degrees of severity, ranging from mild to moderate to severe. SMI, on the other hand, is a smaller population and typically includes severe diagnoses such as schizophrenia, co-occurring mental health disorders, and bipolar disorders resulting in serious functional impairments.

At Adapt Integrated Health Care, we are dedicated to serving those experiencing mental health issues like the ones mentioned above. We offer programs to serve Douglas County adult populations, including:

  • Adult Outpatient Services
  • Early Assessment and Support Alliance (EASA)
  • Assertive Community Treatment (ACT)
  • Supported Employment Program (SEP)
  • Forensics/Jail Diversion

Our programs provide comprehensive assessments, treatment planning, case management, peer support, skills training, individual and group therapy, and enhanced needs care coordination by highly trained and qualified individuals. In addition, we help clients find resources within the community to meet their mental health needs.

Even though it can be difficult at times, we ask you to remember that you are not alone.
